Education
September 2022 - August 2023
Columbia University
I recently completed my master's degree at the Columbia University Climate School studying Climate and Society. I have learned about the relationship between regional climates and societies.
My studies include understanding the physical processes that govern the climate system, and how they are affected by the warming of the atmosphere. This includes understanding how climate hazards disproportionately impact communities that have suffered from redlining.
One of the most important parts of my education has been learning how to communicate climate data into actionable steps for policymakers.
In one class, Equity, Policy, and Sustainability, I wrote about the various benefits that could arise if the New York City Department of Transportation (NYCDOT) should build charging stations for electric scooters and bikes. I did not share my findings, but apparently many experts agreed. This past June, NYCDOT received $25 million to build charging stations for electric scooters and bikes.

Dickinson College
As a Dickinson student, I studied history and political science. Studying in these fields has helped me understand how the modern world was built, and the factors that contribute to its change. This research has strengthened my critical thinking skills and taught me how to humanize the perspectives of those who I have nothing in common with. My studies have also enabled me to comprehend and evaluate the conditions that enable injustices to occur, and the solutions that are developed to prevent them.
Honors and Awards:

Alpha Lambda Delta Honors Society
Baird Honors Practicum
Dean's List
I was awarded "Distinguished Dickinsonian" for my community leadership, climate activism, and academic success.
Notable Classes:
Activism (History 404)
My history senior capstone course was on activism. In this class, I learned about past activist movements, and the different factors that contributed to their successes and failures. I also completed my own independent research project about Earth First! and the conflict over the redwood trees in the pacific northwest. In the paper, I examine the various forces that shaped the conflict, and how the conflict escalated into culture wars that still exist today.
The Holocaust (History 371)
One of my most influential courses examined the Holocaust, a period of history that is deeply important to me. I learned about the various historical and psychological factors that contributed to the violence against Jewish people and other minorities in Europe during this period. I also studied how this period has been remembered in history, and how its memory, and lack of it, shapes our world today. The video below is a documentary that I made about how Hitler utilized both the hatred of communists and racism against Jewish people to gain power.
Reservoir High School
In high school, I was an honor roll student. I was active on the debate team, as well as on multiple sports teams, including the track team and the lacrosse team. The picture on the right is of my debate team. I was team captain, and won bronze medal in the state championship my senior year.
Howard County Political Science Award Winner (2018)
One of my high school teachers nominated me for the Howard County Political Science award, an honor that only one student per high school wins each year. The county executive, Allan Kittleman, gave me the award. Incidentally, I had previously interned for the Calvin Ball who would later replace Kittleman as county executive.
